Centre School Course InformationLessons hours are 50 minutes each. Centre School course
prices INCLUDE your first Student Course Book and worksheets when you pay for 8
weeks or more. Accommodation with a host family (single room,
breakfast & evening meal) is extra and is charged at £100 a week. Lesson Times: Daytime 0930-1230 or 1330-1630.
Evenings 1730-1930 (other lesson times may be offered). Class times may be changed or altered - please be aware of this if you decide to find work while you are in Bournemouth Code of ConductStudents are expected to be courteous towards other students and staff in the School and speak English at all times in class and around the School premises. You are expected to attend every lesson - if you are unable to attend school for any reason, you must contact the office immediately and tell us the reason why you cannot attend. Any absence from school for more than three days will require a medical certificate from a doctor. If you fail to attend school for two weeks without explanation or prior arrangement, you will be expelled immediately and, if your stay in England requires a visa, the Home Office will be notified. We also reserve the right to expel a student for disruptive behaviour, general misconduct and/or unsatisfactory work in class. Payment of Course Fees
Your Enrolment at the Centre
School of English is only confirmed when a deposit of £100 (non-refundable) or
the full fees have been paid and sent to the School with a completed Enrolment
Form. If you are booking accommodation, you must send an additional £100
deposit (non-refundable). Any balance of course fees should be paid at least 2
weeks before starting the course (a £25 Registration Fee will be added to your
Invoice. A £20 Course Book Fee will also be added, unless you are paying for 8
weeks or more). When you pay your deposit or full fees, we will send you an
Acceptance Letter & Invoice (outlining the course and payment details),
which can then be taken to the British Embassy in your country when you apply
for a visa (The Centre School of English is proud to be included on the UK
Government's Register of Education and Training Providers - the Register
is a list of genuine education and training providers in England, Wales,
Scotland and Northern Ireland). A Student Card will be issued during your first
week at the School (this gives you valuable discounts in local shops and
cinemas) and you will receive a Study Certificate at the end of your course. Changes,
Cancellations and Refunds
1.
If you have to cancel your course before the start date, or your
application for a Home Office visa is not approved, we will refund any fees
already paid to the School, less the £100 Course Fees deposit (and the £100
Accommodation deposit if paid). We will need to see the original refusal letter
from the Home Office or British Embassy before we can refund any money.
2.
No refund is payable if a student leaves the course early for
whatever reason, including personal or medical reasons. In addition, there will
be no refund or credit in the case of late arrival in England or being asked to
leave the School because of misconduct such as non-attendance or unacceptable
behaviour. 3. The
Centre School of English may have to cancel lessons in the event of staff
illness or circumstances beyond our control. We will try to arrange extra
classes, but this cannot be guaranteed. In the event of cancelled classes, there
will be no refund or reduction of course fees. Any changes made by the student
after the original Letter of Acceptance has been issued, will incur an
administration charge of £10 each time a change is made. Additional letters
(such as bank references), or copies of letters, will also incur a £10
charge for each. Accommodation
Accommodation,
if required, is arranged with a local host family from Sunday to Saturday at the
rate of £100 a week for room, breakfast and evening meal (hotel or bed-sit
accommodation is also available). For long-term students, we recommend staying
with a family for the first 8 weeks of your course – you may then choose to
stay with your family, move to another family, or rent a flat with some friends.
Accommodation in a room in a shared student house or flat is available from £65
a week. If you decide to leave your host family accommodation earlier than
arranged, you must give one full week’s notice or pay one week’s fees in
lieu. Travel and
Medical Insurance
Students
are recommended to take out travel and medical insurance to cover all risks. The
School and its Agents will not be liable for any loss, damage or injury to
persons or property however caused. School Holidays
The School is closed for one week in the spring (March 16-20), two weeks in the summer (June 15-26), two weeks in the autumn (September 7-18) and four weeks over the Christmas & New Year holidays 2009/2010 (if you are here during these periods, we will extend your course by that number of weeks). The school will also be closed on all UK national and public holidays. These Terms & Conditions are subject to change - this December 2008 edition replaces any previous issue
