Centre School of English - we've got the best teachers in town!Well, that's what our students tell Nikki in the school office!
Our School has clean, modern classrooms and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
All our teachers were born in the UK and are native English speakers...they are fully qualified, experienced professionals who love teaching - and they will do everything they can to help you improve your English while you are with us.
On your first day at the Centre School of English, you will take a short grammar test—this is to check your level of English so that we can put you in the best class for your ability. We have classes for everyone and with our help you will quickly improve your speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar skills.
At our School, we have a maximum of 8 students in each of our large classrooms, which means you get much more individual attention from your teacher and lots more talking time to practice your English!
The Centre School is on the edge of the safe, car-free zone in the middle of Bournemouth and only a few minutes walk from the beach, gardens, taxis and buses. There are lots of shops and cafes close to the School, as well as restaurants, pubs, theatres, cinemas and beautiful parks.
Do you like sports? You can play pool and darts in our Student Lounge, watch TV or read the day's newspapers - we also have FREE wireless internet access for our students. Golf, tennis and tenpin bowling are available nearby - and we regularly arrange our own private school excursions, class meals, sports tournaments and pub tours!
Geoff Allen on BBC Radio SolentGeoff Allen (our UK Studies Director) is also a broadcaster with the BBC - he is on the radio every weekday morning from 0600 until 0900! You can sometimes hear him at other times too. You can listen to Radio Solent online - log on to www.bbc.co.uk/radiosolent and click on the "listen live" button! Geoff has been a broadcaster for 30 years and a teacher for 25 years and has worked in England, Switzerland and Austria. He knows a lot about the English language! Listen to your 'lovely teacher' Geoff Allen on the radio between 6am and 9am and start your day with a smile! And perhaps learn 'BBC English' with Geoff in the Centre School classroom too!?? It's my first time in England...what will it be like? You will certainly find our customs and traditions different to your own.
Our informal language too will be very strange at first...and it will take time for you to get used to British bathrooms, British food and the lovely British weather.
But during your first few weeks in England, we will help you feel at home and help you overcome the culture shock that you will feel when you come here for the first time!
What should I bring when I come to the Centre School of English in Bournemouth to study? An umbrella! No, we're joking...see the Bournemouth Info page for the real details!
Maria Walliser and the nice teachers at the Centre School of English, BournemouthDuring the 1980's, the Swiss National Ski Team came to Bournemouth to improve their English skills and our UK Studies Director Geoff Allen was one of their teachers.
In the school were Maria Walliser, Erika Hess and her sister Monika - after a school party, Geoff gave Erika and Monica a lift back to their host family in his car (what a kind man he was...and still is!!!). You see, it's true...the Centre School of English really does have nice teachers! |
