Your ‘home from home’ in Bournemouth...

And what a lovely, friendly, comfortable place it will be!

Your host family will be one of the most important parts of your time in England... that’s why, at the Centre School of English, we choose our host families very carefully, because it takes a very special family to host an international student successfully.

In selecting our host families, we look for the following qualities:

Sincere interest in learning about other cultures.
Willingness to treat the student as a member of the family.
Willingness to devote time to talking and doing things with the student.
Openness to accepting students of any race, culture or religion.

We also request that the family has a good standard of spoken English and that their home is kept in a clean and orderly state.

Bed linen in your host family is changed at least once a week, towels twice a week. The host family will help with your laundry but may make a small charge.

Alessia from Italy said, “My host family were lovely - they helped me with my speaking and we often went out to the local pub after dinner…and my host mother cooked some lovely food!“

Host Family meals: Breakfast is usually a light meal and consists of juice, cereal, toast with butter or jam and tea or coffee.

Dinner is usually a three-course meal and is served at around 6pm so that students are then free to go out with friends or to an activity organized by the school.

You may also be lucky enough for your host family to take you out to a country pub for Sunday lunch - and there are plenty of great pubs to discover in Dorset!

Important:

We promise to try our best to find you a host family when you book a study place and accommodation with us. However, during the summer months, Bournemouth is very busy and it may not be possible to find a family for you! In this case, we will refund any accommodation fees you may have paid.

Some students book courses only a week or two before they want to start and are disappointed when we cannot find a family for them! To be sure of finding a family close to the school, you should book your course and accommodation at least three months before you want to study...we may not always be able to help if you leave it until the last minute!
